EOU MISSION

EOU guides student inquiry through integrated, high quality liberal arts and professional programs that lead to responsible and reflective action in a diverse and interconnected world. As an educational, cultural and scholarly center, EOU connects the rural regions of Oregon to a wider world. Our beautiful setting and small size enhance personal attention our students receive, while partnerships with colleges, universities, agencies, and communities add to the educational possibilities of our region and state.

LBCC's 104-acre Albany campus is just two miles south of Albany, Oregon, and 11 miles east of Corvallis. The campus houses a learning resource center, bookstore, 500-seat theater, library, conference facility, and student lounge/recreation rooms. Dining facilities include a cafeteria, a cafe and a restaurant operated by students in the Culinary Arts program. The original 13 contemporary brick buildings are connected by covered walkways that encircle a landscaped courtyard. Additional buildings include the Periwinkle Child Development Center, the Luckiamute Center, physical education and sports facilities, and a greenhouse. An LBCC horse management facility is located a short 1.5 miles from the main campus.

Student services include career counseling, academic and personal guidance, financial aid and student employment, and student leadership and involvement opportunities. All campus facilities and parking are designed to accommodate the needs of people with disabilities, and public buses provide students with free transportation between LBCC and downtown Albany, Corvallis, Philomath, Lebanon, Sweet Home and other communities in East Linn County.

Our community centers offer a wide variety of credit and non-credit classes in Albany, Corvallis, Lebanon, Sweet Home and other locations throughout the district. Some of these courses are transferable and can be taken for credit; others are non-credit, special interest classes.

World-Class Resources in Health, Education, and Research~In 1887, the inaugural class of the University of Oregon Medical School met in the school's lone building - a two-room converted grocery store in northwest Portland. From that small school we have grown into a world-class teaching hospital and research center that draws in students, scientists, and patients from across the country and around the world. The Cascade Campus is the anchor of a neighborhood in the midst of transformation. Located in the middle of the most culturally diverse section of Portland, Cascade offers a range of programs as varied as the community surrounding it.

Situated in the revitalized North Portland area, Cascade Campus offers students a centralized location and broad ties to the many cultures represented in its surrounding community. Located in the heart of an historic neighborhood, Cascade is the home of such annual festivities as the acclaimed Cascade Festival of African Films, one of the most prominent and popular film festivals in the Pacific Northwest. The rich blend of culture, tradition and renewal that flavors Cascade Campus is reflected in the neighborhoods it serves, which are making names for themselves as hot spots of Portland art and commerce. Cascade’s self-guided walking art tour is anchored by its new Art Gallery, which opened in the fall of 2006.

The Sylvania Campus is located just 10 minutes from downtown Portland in southwest Portland between Lake Oswego and Tigard. The campus opened in 1968 and rests on a gently sloping hillside, bordered by a forest of Douglas firs, oaks, maples and alders. It offers breathtaking views of Tualatin Valley, Bull Mountain and the Oregon Coast Range.

Sylvania Campus offers students a dynamic and comprehensive array of college opportunities. The cornerstones of the campus are the library and performing arts center, both built in 1994. The library features the latest in learning resources while the nearby performing arts center is a fully equipped theater and dance venue.

The Sylvania Campus is home for the PCC nursing, and dental programs, which have national reputations for excellence. Sylvania also provides college transfer, professional and technical programs, and developmental education. The campus is large, but classes are small, so students are able to develop excellent teaching and learning relationships with their instructors.

The campus offers everything a student needs, and is especially known for its associate degree programs. Those include machine manufacturing technology, early childhood education, radiology, fitness technology, graphic design, sign language interpreter, computer technologies, automotive technology, drafting machine technology and more. The Sylvania Campus has a large number of student activities and excellent athletic facilities that include a track, swimming pool, state-of-the-art weight room and a large gym for indoor activities.

Umpqua Community College is one of the most picturesque colleges in the country, nestled between beautiful tree-studded hills and overlooking a large bend in the North Umpqua River.
