The 24 miles between Troutdale, Oregon and the I-84 interchange near Ainsworth Park contain some of the most spectacular scenery in the world. If you choose to travel this segment of the gorge via the Historic Columbia River Highway you can visit at least seven major waterfalls, nine state parks, and view the magnificent scenery from water level to vistas over 700 feet above the Columbia River.
The purpose of this guide is to show you the location of some of the scenic wonders and items of interest along the highway as well as to provide a brief history of each area. When possible, stop at the various points of interest and get out of your car. Most of the sights are within walking distance of the highway.
